Many members of the Australian community, particularly refugees, migrants and people seeking asylum, need access, support, and opportunities to participate in and enjoy the benefits of sports and recreational activities – and sporting clubs can’t advance this work alone!
Welcoming Clubs transforms sports and recreation spaces into inclusive environments where everyone feels a sense of belonging, connection, and opportunity. Through specialized inclusion programs and community engagement, we work with over 150 clubs to support under-represented groups. Our mission is to ensure that everyone, regardless of their background, can enjoy and thrive in sports.
Welcoming Clubs create sports and recreation environments that are safe, welcoming, and inclusive. By engaging diverse communities and building meaningful relationships, we ensure sporting clubs reflect the communities they serve, promoting participation and belonging for all.
How will your donation help us help kids play sport?
Your donation will equip the Welcoming Clubs team to:
Provide informed, targeted support to clubs, codes, community spaces and facilities to ensure they are safe, welcoming and inclusive
Co-host inclusive basketball, soccer and water safety activities and programs for children from refugee and migrant families
Provide case by case support to individuals facing intersectional barriers to involvement in sports and recreation
Implement expert knowledge for volunteer-run organisations to engage with diverse groups
Build connections and meaningful relationships with groups in the broader community to provide appropriate pathways to participation
